Antonella Jones

Antonella Jones: The Question Box, original fiction

An imagined Antonella Jones tries a box that promises one answer. Box, room and events are fictional.

One question only

In this fiction, Antonella finds a wooden box in a reading room. A narrow slot is labeled one question only. She writes where does this lead on a card and slides it inside.

A little drawer opens with a folded paper chair. Antonella unfolds the chair and sets it on the table. The box offers no words and no second drawer.

Space for the answer

The fictional Antonella turns the paper chair over. Its underside is blank. She writes sit for a moment there and places it beside the slot.

Then she sits in the real chair at the table and looks around the quiet room. In the invented room, the box has not explained a destination. It has made enough space for a pause.
